Abstract Submission Instructions
General Instructions
- All abstracts must be submitted online by email ONLY. Abstracts received via mail or fax will not be reviewed.
- One poster per presenter and one presenter per poster. ***All presenters must be registered for the conference.***
- Abstracts should represent original, completed work that has not been previously published.
- A notice of abstract receipt will be sent via email within one day or electronic submission.
- If the abstract is accepted, a notice of acceptance, poster presentation guidelines, and instructions will be emailed to the presenter by May 18, 2009.
- If the abstract was not accepted, the presenter will be contacted by May 18, 2009 and given the option to remain registered or to request a refund for the registration fee.
- If you need assistance submitting your abstract, please contact Lene Loest, program coordinator at 575-646-5104 or hloest@nmsu.edu.
- In the event that an abstract needs to be withdrawn, please contact Lene Loest via email at hloest@nmsu.edu before May 4, 2009.
Poster Competition:
Undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to compete in the Poster Competition- see "Abstract Writing Guidelines"
Abstract Categories
(Abstracts must cover one of the following topics:
- Basic/Translational Research as it relates to cancer prevention, screening, and treatment or survivorship/quality of life
- Intervention Research as it relates to cancer prevention, screening, and treatment or survivorship/quality of life
- Public Policy and Advocacy as it relates to cancer prevention, screening, and treatment or survivorship/quality of life

SUBMIT THE ABSTRACT AS MS WORD DOCUMENT OR PDF FILE BY EMAIL
Step 1: Indicate the following information in the BODY of the EMAIL that contains the abstract:
- Presenter's Name and Title
- Presenter's Affiliation/Organization
- Presenter's Email Address
- Presenter's Phone Number
- Is the Presenter a student: YES / NO
- Title of the Abstract
- *Disclaimer: by submitting this abstract I hereby give permission to New Mexico State University, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, and the University of New Mexico to reproduce this abstract. Date____

Abstract Requirements:
Abstracts must:
- be submitted in MS Word or PDF format
- be in English
- have 250 words or less, excluding title, authors and affiliation
- be font Arial, regular
- be font size 12
- have margins of 1 inch
- be accurate. Please note that the quality of the abstract directly reflects the image of the presenter, therefore it is the responsibility of the presenter to ensure accuracy. Staff will not edit abstracts.
- contain the following information:
- Objectives
- Methods
- Results
- Conclusion
Conference staff will make every effort to publish abstracts as it was submitted
