The overall goal of the conference is to understand the fundamental cancer health disparities in the
southwest rural areas of the United States. The objectives are to:

  1. Develop and explore strategies to understand cancer health disparities in rural areas by
    examining unique issues throughout the cancer continuum;

  2. Identify opportunities to enhance cancer prevention strategies in rural areas by reviewing
    successful interventions delivered to the underserved in other settings; and

  3. Identify and recommend strategies for increasing attention to and resources for cancer
    research, prevention, and treatment for underserved populations in rural areas.
