Patricia MacGregor-Mendoza, Ph.D. (Spanish, UIUC) is a Professor of Spanish and Linguistics at New Mexico State University. Among her accolades are Outstanding Faculty Member for Outreach, Outstanding Mentor, University Bilingual Education Professor of the Year, and the Leading the Way Award. A longstanding advocate for faculty advancement, she has more than a decade of experience mentoring faculty formally and informally, and most recently was appointed as the inaugural Provost’s Fellow for Faculty Success. Dr. MacGregor-Mendoza’s publications address language use and attitudes, language and migration, language policy, language assessment, service learning with Heritage Language learners and communities, and sociolinguistic justice.

In working with the PACR she will apply her experience to promote the success of the ESI/NIs by engaging in conversations to identify their needs and challenges, curating and creating professional development resources and opportunities in response to those needs, identifying pathways to effectively conduct community-engaged research in linguistically and culturally diverse communities, and providing them with support to proactively overcome challenges and obstacles they may face as individuals or in the workplace.
