Bio:

Dr. Beti Thompson is a member of the Cancer Prevention Program in the Public Health Sciences Division at Fred Hutch. She is also the Associate Director for Minority Health and Health Disparities Emeritus and a professor emeritus at the University of Washington School of Public Health. Her primary research interests include community approaches to reducing cancer and other health disparities in minority and other underserved populations, both in the US and abroad.

Dr. Thompson helped establish the partnership in 2002 as a U56 grant and has provided key leadership to the partnership since. Currently, she assists in leading the Administrative, SuCCESS, and Planning and Evaluation Cores. In addition to her work with the partnership, Dr.Thompson is conducting research on topics such as breast cancer treatment in Chile, reducing pesticide exposure in children of farmworkers, and studying breast cancer disparities in Latinas.

Dr. Thompson earned her Ph.D. in sociology from Western Michigan University.
