Bio:
Dr. Karen Plawecki is an Associate Professor and Extension Nutrition Specialist for New Mexico State University. Dr. Plawecki is a registered dietitian, educator and a translational researcher who specializes in developing, testing, and evaluating efficacy and effectiveness of nutrition and health behavioral interventions. Her research focuses on two primary areas: the development and evaluation of 1) various nutrition-related data collection tools such as food frequency questionnaires; and 2) lifestyle interventions that incorporate dietary and health behavior strategies along with cultural norms to improve nutrition and health behaviors for different target populations.
Dr. Plawecki earned her PhD in Nutrition Sciences from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
